HSAA Football Head Coach: Reggie Davis

Reggie Davis, Head Coach

I have coached and played at the highest level and have trained athletes at all levels - from elementary flag football to the NFL. My gift and passion are coaching and teaching. And doing it all to the glory of God!

When I came to Christ: I came to Christ at the age of 4. My mom saw me staring at a picture of Jesus and repeating over and over, "Jesus please come into my heart.  Jesus please come into my heart."  She sat me down and explained to me my need for salvation and God's plan to reconcile us back to Him through the shed blood of His Son, Jesus.

Family: Coach Davis has a family full of athletes. His wife, Jennifer, played basketball at Duke University. Together, they have five children, including two sets of twin boys! Their eldest and only daughter plays volleyball at Davidson College. Their oldest set of twin boys are juniors on the HSAA Varsity team and their youngest twins are freshmen on the HSAA Varsity team. They have been homeschooling for 15+ years.

Why I love coaching: I love teaching the game, as well as seeing young men grow in their knowledge & love for the sport.  Lastly, getting to use the game of football to teach young men life lessons that will enable them to be great husbands and fathers one day, is priceless.

When I came to Christ: I came to Christ publicly when I was 15. But since I can remember I’ve asked Jesus in my heart as early as 5

Favorite Bible verse: I have many that give me strength. But this one has a special place for me. Deuteronomy 33:25 "Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be"

Family: My wife, Jennifer, and I have 4 children: daughter Haley 21, daughter Abigail 18, son Ryker 13, daughter Anna 10

Why I love coaching: To teach young men who they are in Christ. Seeing their ability to learn, push through adversity, and get better in every way. It challenges me to be a better man. Football is a lot like life in many ways and I enjoy teaching the young men the skills and tools I’ve learned along the way so they can apply those on the field and off the field. I also enjoy the team aspect and being around the great men I coach with. To lean on one another and learn from one another. Iron sharpens iron. This world needs more Godly authentic men to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously and invest eternally and football is a great vehicle to teach these things to the next generation.

Our church: FreeLife church in Forney TX for 15 years.

Areas of service at our church: Lead authentic men's class, coaching a next level class called “Freedom” and Kid's Life

Playing experience: I played from 3rd to high school graduation, then two years on a small semi-pro team once out of the service for 2 years.

Coaching experience: 3 years coaching kids soccer, 3 years coaching rec football (one year as head coach). I'm going into my 3rd year as an HSAA coach.

When I came to Christ: I was 19 when I gave my life to Christ

Favorite Bible verse: Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." This is my favorite Bible verse because it gives me security that no matter what comes my way not only is God with me, but he has given me the ability to overcome anything that comes against me.

Family: I have a beautiful fiancé named Faith. I have a little sister named Camryn. My Mom and Dad are named Erica and Larry.

Why I love coaching: I tore my ACL and got into training offensive linemen. Through this, I found the purpose I feel God has called me to. When I was growing up I was confused and didn't have much guidance or understanding of what it meant to be a young MAN. When I gave my life to Christ, I joined a small group and we read a book called "KINGDOM MAN". This book changed my life. It gave me the real purpose of what it means to be a Man in God's eyes. This brings me to my calling which is to help young athletes know who they are in Christ and not in the world or just football.

My church: Milestone Church, McKinney TX

Areas of service at my church: I have led middle school and high school ministries

Playing experience: I played football at Independence High School and played at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Coaching experience: I coach O-line for HSAA and I'm an O-line assistant for the XFL Arlington Renegades.
